The district continues to see new cases and quarantines as experts say the delta variant is infecting more children than past variants. The highest numbers of cases and quarantines are in elementary schools. Eighteen of the district's 21 elementary schools are affected along with six of seven middle schools and all four high schools. There is six staff at elementary and two staff at the high school level have tested positive for the coronavirus. The city of Joplin has 54.5% of the population fully vaccinated.ĬPS reports 12 district facilities (five elementary schools, one middle school, three high schools and three other district facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19. Louis County is the second county in the state with 50.1% of residents have completed the doses for vaccination. The second closest county in the state is St. Boone County has the largest percentage of county residents in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 56.7 %. The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports that 102,402 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 92,271 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.
